Connecting apps to manufacturing systems
Integrations around ERP data, inventory, purchasing, production, and quality workflows.
The starting point
A lot of my work connects newer applications to the systems used for inventory, purchasing, production, and quality. Those systems already have years of operational knowledge built into them.
My part
I work across SQL databases, backend APIs, and application code to connect those systems and automate parts of the workflow.
How I approached it
Understand what the data means.
A field or API response only tells part of the story. I need to understand how people use that information in their work.
Make changes that fit.
I work with the constraints of the existing system and look for improvements that can be made without replacing the whole thing.
The result
This is an ongoing area of my work: connecting applications to ERP and manufacturing data, and finding ways to reduce manual steps.
